Aroma of rain

It was 4:00 in the afternoon
When there was no stir in the air,
The trees stood still, streets and roads looked deserted,
The intense heat made everyone to take shelter under shady trees.
Perspiring from head to foot, few dropped down tired,
Birds hid in the thick leaves adding to the direful sight of hot summer…

As the sun moved towards West, the long day seemed to wear out,
Away in the distance, there appeared black clouds,
The distant whistling of a strong wind appeared to wake up the trees,
Rapidly casting the clouds all over the sky…

The storm burst upon with all its fury then,
Whirling clouds of dust blinded the eyes and the roars of thunders deafened the ears,
Wind rushed into the houses, rattling the windows and doors,
Drizzling rain abated the wind changing into a heavy downpour,
Shifting the burning hot day into a cool refreshing evening…

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief welcoming the patter of the rain,
The birds expressed their joy bringing a special charm and beauty.
The most fascinating sight of the silver lining across the clouds
And the beautiful rainbow made the hearts leap with immense joy…
